Under the supervision of the Project Coordinator, the online Programming Research Facilitator will work directly with residents from the four northeast partner communities to implement participatory action research (PAR) activities including, but not limited to, media and digital art workshops, mentoring participants through their own creative projects, and overseeing peer-to-peer mentorship and collaboration. They will also be responsible for collecting observational data and administering surveys. The Research Facilitators will play an important role in delivering project activities as they are needed, and aligned with the overall research strategy and ongoing developmental evaluation.

What is Media Arts?
‘Media Arts’ refers to time-related artworks created through the use of new media and technology. Numerous disciplines have fallen under the umbrella of ‘Media Art’ over the years, including works in the fields of digital art, computer graphics, computer animation, virtual art, Internet art, interactive art, sound art, video games, computer robotics, 3D printing and more! At Digital Creator North we encourage people of all ages to have fun exploring the world of media art while also helping to develop artistic skills for a range of media practices. Let’s start creating!
Creator Spaces Closed Temporarily
Due to the temporary closure of several of our host libraries across Northern Ontario, our Digital Creator Spaces will be suspending all programming and closing down until further notice. During this time, our talented Program Leads will continue to teach and encourage youth and emerging artists to explore digital technologies from their own homes, through a variety of educational tutorials that will be shared online through our social media platforms.
Kayt Lackie: Elliot Lakes’s New Program Lead
Kayt is a novelist, new media storyteller, and musician who recently returned to Elliot Lake. After studying classical music at the University of Western Ontario, publishing at Humber College and creative writing at the University of Auckland, she received her PhD in Digital Creative Writing from Bath Spa University in 2017. Kayt is a recurring staff writer on the hit augmented reality app Zombies, Run! and her next novel, “Connection at Newcombe”, is due out Autumn 2020 from Latitude 46. Kayt has been involved in community art since she was a child, first as an avid learner, and more recently as an organiser and teacher.
